Zim man escapes SA jail

BEITBRIDGE -A Zimbabwean man, identified as Antony Makhusha (32), was arrested at Lephalale in Waterberg District, in Limpopo Province on Tuesday August 08, 2023 over fraud.
Makhusha is said to have escaped prison at Lephalale Police station at around 1pm the same day he was arrested.
On August 13, 2023, Makhusha was rearrested after the Lephalale Police in Waterberg had launched a manhunt fo him and opened a case of Escaping from Lawful Custody for further investigation.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe had urged communities to assist Police with information regarding this suspect and not to attempt to apprehend him.
Makhusha was rearrested at Onverwacht were he was hiding in the bushes.
“We can confirm that SAPS Lephalale on August 13, 2023 in the afternoon managed to rearrest the escapee, Makhusha at Onverwacht, behind the Mall hiding in the bushes. He was arrested for Fraud related charges,” said Enquiries, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
“Makhusha will now face additional charges of escaping from Lawful Custody and police investigations are continuing,” he said.
