Zanu PF councillor pays driver’s licences for 110 youth

CHIREDZI –  Zanu PF Ward 4 councillor Liberty Macharaga is paying US$3 000 to see 110 youth from his area going through Class 2 Driver’s licence lessons and tests.

Macharaga who is a councillor for one of the poorest wards in Chiredzi confirmed the project to The Mirror. He said he partnered with Safeways Driving School for the project.

“I was touched by the plight of youth in my ward and I decided that I should be the game changer that they need in their lives,” said Macharaga.

Each individual will go through two weeks’ lessons in preparations for provisional licence tests then fees for practical lessons will be paid.

One of the beneficiaries of the programme, Melody Chiseko hailed Macharaga for the programme and said it will go a long way into empowering her as a woman.

“I am grateful to our councillor for this. This will definitely empower me,” said Chiseko.

Macharaga is also empowering residents by sponsoring them Nurse Aid training, Cutting and Designing, Freezit making and soap making courses.
