Sex-worker falsifies police report to fix client

BEITBRIDGE- Resident Magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba has sentenced a Beitbridge sex worker to six months in jail after she falsified a Police report accusing a customer who did not pay ZAR100 for her services of robbing her of ZAR 500 and US$ 500 at gunpoint.

Munashe Muteta (21) was jailed for supplying false information to a Public Authority as defined in section 180 (1) of the Criminal law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

Muteta of Number 8, O Jays booking houses filed a Police report accusing Tinos Tagwirei of robbing her on September 3, 2022 at around 10 am at an unnamed road near paGomo Leisure Centre.

Tagwirei who was jointly charged with an accomplice Norman Nyagumbo allegedly has sex with Muteta but did not pay for the service.

Muteta filed a robbery report at Beitbridge Police Station at around 6 am on September 4, 2022 and stated that Tagwirei proposed love to her and she agreed. The two then went to drink beer at Terry Beer Gardens in the company of Nyagumbo.

The three left the drinking spot in Tagwirei’s vehicle after which, Tagwirei and Nyagumbo produced a firearm and a knife respectively and demanded money from Muteta. She allegedly surrendered ZAR 500 and US$500 and her mobile phone. The duo then dumped her and drove off and she managed to capture the vehicle’s registration plates. 

Police detectives went to Terry Beer Gardens investigating the matter but the beer garden’s manager Farai Admore Mugari told them that the bar was closed on the day. 

The detectives quizzed Muteta on her story and she confessed that she falsified the report because Tagwirei had not paid her ZAR 100 after the two had sex in his vehicle.
