MASVINGO-Masvingo born and bred movie producer and musician Ngonidzashe Chinovava (31) aka Baba Raah is this March releasing an environmental and drug abuse awareness movie titled Purpose in pain.
Chinovava confirmed the development to The Mirror in an interview and said the project is 40 % complete.
He said that the movie has four themes namely climate change, waste management, girl child protection and drug abuse and which are adversely affecting society.
The storyline is about a poor girl from the populous Mucheke suburb who is passionate about the environment and advocates the benefits of waste management and putting an end to drug and substance abuse.
“I was born and bred in Mucheke, Masvingo and the movie storyline is about the environment. Purpose in pain will focus on teaching people about climate change and waste management. We will also focus on the girl child and effects of drug abuse on the youth,” he said.
Purpose in pain is being filmed in Masvingo and the project began on December 10 last year.
Comedian VaMayaya and Khulekani Ndlovu are some of the actors who will feature in the movie.
“We are 40 % done with the project and we will release it online in March. We appeal for sponsorship and support from the Masvingo community and well-wishers. The project is expensive and the expenses include fuel to travel between filming sets, food and provisions for the cast and crew,” said Chinovava.
