MASVINGO – A man from Toringa Village under Chief Maranda in Mwenezi was struck and killed with a hoe handle over US$1 fish.
Misheck Chipfuvuradze (48) was struck by Isheunopa Mavhetekwa with a hoe handle and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Marinda Clinic.
The incident happened last Monday and the accused has since been arrested.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident to the Mirror and urged parties to settle their differences amicably.
Sources said Chipfuvuradze sold Mavhetekwa fish for US$ 1 and they quarreled when the former demanded his money.
Chipfuvuradze met Mavhetekwa at around 8pm at Machena Primary while he was coming from selling fish and demanded his money. The two exchanged harsh words and they began to fight when they reached Chipfuvuradze’s homestead.
Mavhetekwa then struck Chipfuvuradze with a hoe handle during the fight and when he screamed for help, his wife Portia Mawera (42) came to stop the fight but found her husband lying in a pool of blood.
Mavhetekwa ran away and Mawera called Chipfuvaradze’s brother Tichaona. They rushed Chipfuvaradze to Marinda clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was taken to Neshuro Hospital for postmortem.https://twonations.co.zw
