Lightning strikes, kills Chivi woman

MASVINGO–A woman from Gondoori Village, Headman Chipindu under Chief Chivi was struck and killed by lightning on Thursday last week when she went out of her kitchen hut to collect a dish that was outside.
The incident happened when it was just about to start raining.

Masvingo Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said that Tryphine Chingozho (21) died on the spot.
The deceased was at home with her uncle Stanford Chingozho (42) when it started raining. She went to get a dish which she had left outside and was struck by the lightning as walked back into the hut. She fell headlong.

Trustmore Chingozho ferried Tryphine to Chivi District Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Post-mortem was waived by Chivi Resident Magistrate, Caroline Tafira. The deceased suffered blisters all over her abdomen and face.
