MIDLANDS BUREAU CHIEF
KWEKWE – Six armed robbers pounced on a Kwekwe family that had just sold a vehicle and went away with US$2 970, Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
The incident happened on March 31, 2023, around 9:30 pm in Sherwood, Kwekwe.
Mahoko said the robbers were armed with iron bars and machetes.
He appealed to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the six unknown persons.
“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information leading to the arrest of the six men.
“Once again we call upon the public to avoid keeping large amounts of money in their homes as they may risk being robbed,” he said.
Circumstances are that, on the night in question, the complainant and his son were walking home from a nearby tuck shop when the armed robbers approached and surrounded them.
The armed robbers then ordered the two to sit down and tied their legs and hands with belts before taking away their cellphones. The robbers then demanded money from the duo and mentioned that they had recently sold a vehicle.
Mahoko said the complainant then directed the armed robbers to his house to collect the money and the duo was left tied up. The robbers arrived at the house and threatened to kill the complainant’s wife before robbing her of US$2 970.
The robbers disappeared and the complainant and his son managed to free themselves and filed a Police report at ZRP Munyati base.
