GWANDA-Municipality of Gwanda Mayor Thulani Moyo is launching this year’s Mayor’s Cheer Fund at Gwanda Palm River Lounge on Thursday.
He told Two Nations that the local authority is expecting to raise at least US$10 000 that will be channelled towards foster homes and the vulnerable.
“As Gwanda Municipality, we are targeting to reach out to 200 beneficiaries who will be identified by independent individuals from the community. Entrance fee for the launch for one person is US$20, US$30 for two and US$50 for the gold package which is the VVIP table.
“We are inviting those who wish to donate to the cheer fund to come in support of the less fortunate, the elderly, the poor and the disabled,” said Moyo.
He added that the organising committee is working with the Social Welfare Department, councillors, churches and community members to raise the donations and identify those in need.
Several fundraising activities including a dinner dance and music gala have been lined up.
