Courier drowns after taking border jumpers across Limpopo

CHIREDZI – A man from Sengwe Village under Chief Sengwe who assists border jumpers to cross the flooded Limpopo River drowned on Monday after successfully taking a group across the river.
Darlington Macharaga (38) drowned on his way back from the South African side.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and discouraged people from crossing flooded rivers.
“We have a report on that case and we urge people to protect life by not attempting to cross flooded rivers,” said Inspector Dhewa.
Macharaga assisted the border jumpers through Chitulipasi point and got them on the other side safely. He could not complete the journey back as he drowned.
The deceased’s brother, Thomas Macharaga (40) searched for the deceased and only found him on the bank of the river the next morning at around 8 and a report was filed at ZRP Puzane Base.
The body was taken to Chikombedzi Mission Hospital for postmortem.https://twonations.co.zw/
