Beitbridge Prison officer shoots himself dead

BEITBRIDGE- A Beitbridge Prisons and Correctional Services Officer Abel Chiteure shot himself dead in the Prisons Armoury this morning, Two Nations has gathered.

The incident occurred around 6 am today.

Efforts to get a comment from the Police were fruitless.

Police sources told Two Nations that Chiteure who was in charge of the night shift wrote a message to his brother notifying him that life was becoming unbearable for him.

Two Nations is reliably informed that he used an SKS rifle with one live round. He shot himself from below the chin to the head.

Police sources said he was owing people some money who were mounting pressure on him requesting their money back.

It is also alleged that he was involved in car dealings where he had promised some people to buy them vehicles on rebet and he failed to honor his promises after collecting their money.
