BEITBRIDGE – Beitbridge Eagles is hosting 10 volleyball teams at St Joseph Primary School in Beitbridge drawn from Mat North and Mat South provinces as it conducts preparatory matches ahead of the 2022 season.
Eagles team administrator Peter Zvenyika said apart from preparations for the next season the tournament seeks to encourage youths to abstain from drugs and criminal activities.
Meanwhile the Eagles are facing financial hardships as there is no money to travel to other provinces for tournaments. The team has no sponsors hence players end up sponsoring themselves which is difficult for them.
Zvenyika bemoaned the absence of female volleyball teams in Zimbabwe’s biggest border town.
There will be prizes for top three teams in the Saturday competitions in addition to individual awards in different categories like best spiker and best baller etc.
Zvenyika appealed to the business community to help the youngsters to achieve their goals. The assistance can be financial or in the form of kits.https://twonations.co.zw
